Be Safe on the Internet

Because we care, we are security aware!

Welcome to the State of Vermont Information Security website.  We are pleased to offer a site that will provide information about computer and information security to the citizens and employees of the State.

As the use of technology has exploded over the past few decades, the risks associated with it have also grown. Incidents of identity theft, credit and debit card compromise, financial costs and cyber attacks have increased exponentially over the past several years. Cyber crime is something that affects all of us. Many of you may have fallen victim to a hacker or know someone who has.

This site has been created to help you protect yourself, your family and your workplace from cyber crime. Information and computer security is one facet of life where small changes, made by many people, make a huge difference.  This Information Security website contains informative pieces on how to protect your home and work computers from the “bad guys.” There are news articles that drive home the need to be diligent while online. Be sure to share the Kids Page with your children. They are the next generation of computer users and the sooner they learn about security and safety online the better.

The information on this site will change on a regular basis so be sure to check back often. Feel free to contact our Security Office with questions or comments.
